Catching Up with Relient Glitter and Music...

Ty Gab's last night in Cincy...
Well it's been one heck of a week... a lot has happened!  I've reconnected with old friends, made new ones, been to a few concerts, chipped a nail, became a fan of a local band, danced the night away, gotten glitter everywhere-- and the list goes on!

Hmm so to recap:  Tyler has gone back to NYC, and we've missed him so!  Dollar Burger Nights aren't the same without him, and we don't randomly have musical numbers happen in the aisles of grocery stores... it's a bummer, to say the least.  But he's off making a name for himself, and being fierce, as usual.  Thankfully we had many a going away adventures with the lad... and we spent a lovely summer together!  I can't wait for his return back to the NKY, but maybe that'll give me a reason to visit him in New York :) Yes please!
Jade and Alexander.

What else has been happening?  Well, I've been able to reconnect with old friends-- which has been awesome!!!  Things got back in the swing of things with a photoshoot at a random park.  Sunshine, Starbucks, and smiles.  I'm practicing my photo skills, for I am to take photos at a friend's wedding reception.  I hope all goes well, I'm nervous and excited!  But the place looks great, and as long as there is enough lighting when need be-- we'll be good! :)
Let's see, what else?? Hmmm... I've been working with my internship more recently.  Getting the press releases ready, finalizing contact lists-- you know how that goes.  Many a meetings with my boss man, the best man!  ahha We've been able to do some photoshoots, like forreal photoshoots for some new projects happening.  I was able to work with a local Cincinnati band, Bad Veins.  They're really cool guys, and they make awesome music.  Check them out here: http://www.badveins.net/  I was able to chat with them, and get to know them, while jamming to their newly finished album.  Keep your eye out for the release.  Also, we recently launched the logo for a new Cincy magazine... MOXIE.  It's going to be awesome!  A nice mixture of women's fashion, and music... my two loves!  We had quite the little shin dig the other night in honor of the launch, with music provided by DJ Scene: http://dj-scene.com/audiodownloads/.  He's got some awesome mashups, go get your download on!  What else has been happening with this internship?  Who knows... it's a day to day thing, I'm just getting hyped about September's MidPoint Music Festival on Fountain Square, and our Vitamin Water Uncapped LIVE events!!! Get hyphy ladies and gentleman.

Taken a few years ago, but still all the rage...
...Speaking of getting hyphy-- my dear friend, Ryan, has arrived back in the NKY after being in India all summer!  I can't wait to catch up on life, and go on some random adventures before we have to go back to school.  We're already planning for an awesome DBN (Dollar Burger Night) this Wednesday, duh!  We'll get some of the high school gals and dudes together and get cray-cray.  And by cray-cray, I obviously mean, eat too many tater tots, and dance til the music stops. Duh.

Also, we can't forget the fact that Matt (The Stud) Hepner visited us this past DBN!!! I was so excited to see him, and so was Matt Watson!  I can't wait for Matt, my knight in shining armor to move back up here...

What else can I rant about?  Oh, duh!  I've been hitting up the concert scene again!  Thank goodness :)  Last Friday, I had the pleasure of joining my friends Adam and Gus at Fountain Square to see Belle Histoire and Ted Leo and The Pharmacist perform, for FREE! Yay!  It was hot, but there was some awesome bands there, and so worth it!!  The view of Cincinnati at night, it's magical... We ended the evening by almost being apart of a flashmob dance event in the middle of the OTR!  Yess.

My bro, Allie, and I before Tim McGraw
On Sunday, my brother, Chadwick, and I hit up the country music scene.  (No, his name really isn't Chadwick, just Chad).  Anywho, we went to see Luke Bryan, The Band Perry, and Tim McGraw.  It was a good concert-- very hot, but good!  Too many fights were happening in the lawn, and too many people streaking in the parking lot... who knew all that excitement would happen at a country concert?  Not I, I say!

On Tuesday, Lauryn and I hit up Warped Tour!  Oh yess!  It was soooo hot, but there was so much great music there!  We ended up seeing a lot of bands, and meeting up with some friends along the way.  The only thing that stinks about Warped, is that there are so many bands, and not enough time to see them all.  You have to schedule which bands you want to see, and hopefully they aren't overlapping.  Stages are set up around Riverbend, and you have to maneuver through hundreds of people.  The cool thing about it all?  You get the opportunity to see new bands, and headliners too.  You make a lot of friends, and you get the chance to hang out with the bands themselves!  The vibe at Warped is cool, you can really connect with the people there-- and there's no judgement, we're all there to have a good time, and enjoy some live music!

Josh, Matt and I.
The best part of the day?  Well, my friends Josh, Austin, and I were all rocking out to Relient K, then trying to make our way to the main stage in time to see Jack's Mannequin... I look to my left, and guess who is rocking out to Jack's Mannequin too?  Only Matt Thiessen himself, the lead singer of Relient K!!  So, of course, I'm starstruck, and not in the Lady Gaga of 3OH!3 way (Song references).  I tweeted my friend Josh, and we made sure to talk to Matt.  He was so nice, and willing to stop watching the performance to take a photo with us.  Ahhh so exciting!!! That was the highlight of my day, maybe the summer...
Then on Friday, Evan and I went to see Belle Histoire and The Cold War Kids! We made some new friends, and heard some really great bands! Belle Histoire might be my new obsession... they're from Cincinnati, and they are so awesome. I'm friends with one of the guys in the band, Austin, and now a couple more of the members. Jane, the lead singer is super sweet... and a great salesperson! Their shirts are super soft, and you need to see them perform live! Check them out here: http://www.bellehistoiremusic.com/. They have an awesome EP out right now, and I can't wait to hear more from them!
Some of Belle Histoire
Also, over the weekend, we hit up a giant dance party at The Drinkery in OTR.  My dear friends Kenneth and David DJ'd the night away, while supplying all the gays and gals with glitter... ferr dayyys!! (Trademark pending).  We were all sweaty hot messes, with glitter everywhere!  I met some cool new people Saturday night, and we danced the night away!  A nice little shout out to Gus-- for being a straight boy, I was impressed by his dance moves!  Get it, son!

I got to spend some time with some fellow NKU students last night!  The SigEps are some of the chillest guys I know, and they're so sweet!  I can't wait to spend more time with them, and my new friends.

I think that's all I need to rave or rant on about today!  I've gotta get ready to watch the third episode of Queen City tonight!

As always, here's some cool music to jam to...

Obsessed!!!

Ben and Sebastian, they're so awesome!

So good live!!!

Because I had forgotten about this until Joseph reminded me yesterday...

Have a swell Sunday, and I'll try to write more often!

Love and glitter...
-Coco
